Senator Left Party and Moves to…

Sinema

Congratulations to Senator Kyrsten Sinema for leaving the Democrat Party. She was never a great fit for them anyway. While she appeared to blend in on the surface, she learned not to deny her closet conservative side. Republicans would never actually trust her if she suddenly switched to the red team, even though it would help the senate balance. She’s much better off as Independent.

Sinema leaves the party

Kyrsten Sinema got a good taste from the Democrat Party punch bowl and decided she can’t stomach their Kool-Aid.

The number one reason she was elected, by independent conservative Arizona voters, including yours truly, is because even as a registered Democrat, she was far more conservative than Jeff Flake, the RINO incumbent. Even more important to voters, she was more conservative than her Republican opponent.

On Friday, December 9, the Senator published an opinion piece in Arizona Republic announcing the news. Without getting into specifics, she “cited increasingly partisan interests and radicalization of both political parties as the reason for her departure.

Her constituents can accept that. Sinema remains squarely in line with her “centrist” history of listening to the voters, even when she disagrees with them.

Americans are told that we have only two choices – Democrat or Republican – and that we must subscribe wholesale to policy views the parties hold, views that have been pulled further and further toward the extremes,” Sinema wrote. “Most Arizonans believe this is a false choice, and when I ran for the U.S. House and the Senate, I promised Arizonans something different.” She sort of got that right.

What Arizonans want is someone who will stand up for their conservative interests, at least once in a while. They did get something different because the senator has kept her side of the bargain, unlike most local “Republicans.” Independents in the Grand Canyon State are more likely to be registered Libertarian and they remain far more radical than the weak kneed Republicans in their state’s branch of the party.

Will work with anyone

Sinema pointed out that she “pledged to be independent and work with anyone to achieve lasting results.” She’s kept that promise reasonably well. She committed to “not demonize people I disagreed with, engage in name-calling, or get distracted by political drama.” She has been getting exactly the same courtesy in return. At least, from this outlet.

She went on to “accuse mainstream political parties in the U.S. of worrying more about blocking each other out than the well-being of their constituents.” Once again, she’s right.

When politicians are more focused on denying the opposition party a victory than they are on improving Americans’ lives, the people who lose are everyday Americans.

Sinema

That is exactly the sort of thing EVERY American really needs to hear, no matter which hue of the political rainbow they identify with. As We the People have been screaming at the top of their lungs lately, “THEY WORK FOR US!” Senator Sinema gets that.

That’s why I have joined the growing numbers of Arizonans who reject party politics by declaring my independence from the broken partisan system in Washington. I registered as an Arizona independent.

It will be interesting to see how she votes on some upcoming heavy duty issues. Her office, and Mark Kelly’s are already on my speed-dial. Arizonan’s say “thank you” to Senator Kyrsten Sinema for setting the example on Capitol Hill.
