Senator Cruz (R-TX) dared to put a piece of legislation on the Senate floor that made sense.
He proposed that unused COVID funds be redirected to schools to beef up security.
Yet, when he put the bill up for unanimous consent, Senator Murphy (D-CT) objected.
Political Theater
Murphy never gave a reason, he just objected.
Cruz called him out, which started a lengthy back-and-forth filled with plenty of drama.
This would include Murphy walking off the floor not once, but twice.
After Murphy objected, Cruz stated, “The fact that he chose not to say a word about why he objects is stunning.
“I find myself genuinely flabbergasted.”
By the end of their exchange, Cruz went ballistic because both his and Murphy’s legislation could have been passed during this session.
He stated, “Had he done something really simple — just shut up, just shut his mouth, just sat there — we would be standing in a position where both of these bills would have been passed into law.”
Instead, and as usual, they accomplished nothing.
