A group of 20 Republican attorneys general have sent a letter outlining an investigation into the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) for deceiving consumers about so-called “transgender” medical services for children, noting that they are being investigated for fraud.
In the September 24 letter to the AAP, the attorneys general argue that the group “continues to mislead and deceive consumers by maintaining its claim that puberty blockers are ‘reversible.’”
“‘That claim is misleading and deceptive and requires immediate retraction and correction,” the attorneys general added.
The letter, which was spearheaded by Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador (R), continued: “That claim raises questions under most state consumer protection laws, it has the undersigned alarmed. Idaho law, for example, prohibits ‘engaging in any act or practice that is otherwise misleading, false, or deceptive to the consumer.’ Idaho Code § 48-603(17). Most other states likewise prohibit making statements to consumers that are false, misleading, or deceptive. Each of us takes our responsibility to protect consumers in our states very seriously.”
The Republican attorneys general went on to explain that numerous countries around the world have begun “intervening to protect children against these untested treatments.”
Earlier this year, the United Kingdom (UK) banned puberty blockers for minors, citing a study that found “very substantial risks and very narrow benefits.”
England just banned puberty blockers in minors – because gender dysphoria is a mental health disorder. Affirming a kid’s confusion isn’t compassion. It’s cruelty. Truth & compassion aren’t in tension, they actually go together. pic.twitter.com/oleGCU9VoD

The letter explained that these bans around the world are “long overdue.”
“That [foreign] halt on what is fairly described as medical experimentation on children is long overdue—particularly since the majority of children initially diagnosed with gender dysphoria desist and ‘grow out’ of the condition by the time they are adolescents or adults,” the Republican attorneys general wrote. “It is abusive to treat a child with biologically altering drugs that have an unknown physiological trajectory and end point. It is also inhumane to endorse such experimentation without a confident safety profile, especially if more times than not, it proves to be medically unnecessary.”
The letter also demanded that the AAP explain why it has partnered with the leading pro-transgenderism medical advocacy group, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), which has been found to be not credible at all.
“The World Professional Association for Transgender Health and its standards of care—the AAP’s apparent cornerstone source—have been exposed as unreliable and influenced by improper pressures,” the letter read. “Indeed, we are additionally concerned about AAP’s involvement in pressuring WPATH to make last minute changes to [medical guidelines] based on political considerations12—and then assuring the public that those same standards are ‘evidence-based.’”
The document concluded with a demand that the AAP respond by October 8 with answers about how the medical group drafted and debated its pro-transgender policies and about its cooperation with WPATH.
“We expect you will address this matter with the same seriousness that we are, and we look forward to receiving your response soon,” the letter read.

Bailey shared the letter in a post on X, writing: “Proud to partner with 22 other AGs to protect our children. Mutilation is not healthcare. It’s a violation of the law.”

This action comes amid ongoing concern over the push of transgenderism on children, especially as the country heads toward the November election — with former President Donald Trump vowing to end the pro-transgender policies of the Biden-Harris administration and Vice President Kamala Harris continuing to support pushing these dangerous and irreversible procedures.
