Alabama police were amazed but not surprised to take an 8-year-old armed carjacker into custody after a hot pursuit. They aren’t naming the minor suspect and despite his daring and violent crimes he’s still too young to charge as an adult. They have a feeling that they’ll run into the modern day “Billy the Kid” again in their professional capacity, sooner or later.
Police nab armed third grader
According to Major Saba Coleman with the Montgomery Police Department in Montgomery, Alabama, they have an armed and dangerous third grader in custody “for allegedly stealing a car at gunpoint and then leading authorities on a chase.”
The 8-year-old boy with an adult attitude “allegedly carjacked an adult at gunpoint around 11 a.m. on West Fairview Avenue in Montgomery.”
When the child “refused to pull over for police on East South Boulevard and Norman Bridge Road,” a chase ensued which “ended when the boy crashed the stolen car into another vehicle at West Fairview Avenue and South Court Street.”

No injuries were reported but the stolen car wasn’t so lucky. The gun used in the carjacking was recovered at the scene.
They cuffed the youth just like any other carjacker and stuffed him in the cruiser for a ride down to police HQ. After pictures and prints, they transferred the alleged juvenile delinquent over to the Montgomery County Youth Detention Facility.
He’s facing charges of “first-degree robbery, attempting to elude and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.” Nobody’s mentioning where his parents are.

Witness describes the drama
A witness to the original carjacking, “Snake” Knapp, filled in the press on what he caught of the “dramatic” event.
“Whenever I realized it was a little boy, I knew I had to follow them and make sure no one got hit and that he got caught because don’t want him driving all over Montgomery, causing more accidents or hurting himself or hurting other people,” the vigilant witness relates. Police had it under control but appreciate the assist.
According to Snake, “the boy also picked up two adults on Norman Bridge Road.” He was practically running a taxi service. You have to give the kid some credit for his hustle. Snake pointed out the obvious question on everyone’s mind which the police managed to sidestep completely.
Where are his parents? He had a gun, used to carjack someone, and would not stop the vehicle. What is going on? 8-year-old arrested in Montgomery carjacking, police chase https://t.co/SVH3cVaC8k

“I think parents just really need to know where their kids are, what their kids are doing, and just talk to them about these kinds of things,” he reflects.
It seems like every day police are reporting younger offenders doing more violent things. Perhaps if schools spent more time teaching things like reading and math instead of an infinite number of genders our children wouldn’t be so violent.
Nobody would really be surprised if the parents turn out to be dead from a fentanyl overdose and stuffed in a freezer while their independent offspring signs the monthly checks like nothing happened. Police are reporting stranger things.
