A dispute over french fries led to a customer opening fire on a McDonald’s worker in St. Louis County, Missouri, according to authorities.

Terika Clay, 30, has been arrested and charged with first degree assault and armed criminal action after reacting to an argument with a McDonald’s employee by shooting her in the chest.

The incident began in the drive-thru lane of the fast food restaurant in Normandy, Missouri, while Clay was receiving her order. She allegedly got into a shouting match with the worker in the window, and then returned later to enact her revenge.

Following the argument, Clay returned to McDonald’s while the employee was on a smoke break and struck her in the head with a gun, then shot her in the chest.

In their probable cause statement, Normandy police detectives stated that Clay resorted to violence after not receiving a discount on her order of french fries.

A news report from KTVI-TV regarding the incident cited an anonymous employee who claimed that Clay may have also been upset that her french fries were not hot enough.

The shooting incident was reportedly caught on surveillance video, which police used to identify and locate Terika Clay. The footage has not been released to the public.

Details about the medical status of the victim are not quite clear, though one news outlet, KTVI, has reported that she had only suffered a superficial wound and has since been released from the hospital.

The outlet also noted that Clay is being held on a cash-only bond of $150,000, and a judge has already made it clear that, if she is released, she must stay out of contact with the victim and all other employees of that McDonald’s, and must stay at least 1,000ft away from the restaurant.
