Authorities have reported that a Brooklyn man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for stabbing an NYPD cop in the neck as well as shooting two other officers during the 2020 George Floyd protests.

23-year-old Dzenan Camovic pled guilty to three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer in addition to other crimes.

The incident took place on June 3, 2020 when Camovic ambushed police officers Yayon Frantz Jean Pierre and Randy Ramnarine with a knife while screaming “Allahu akbar!”

After stabbing Jean Pierre, Camovic rushed Ramnarine, throwing his knife at him.

At that point, Jean Pierre attempted to fire at Camovic, but tripped and lost control of the firearm, which the attacker picked up and used to shoot Ramnarine and another responding officer.

Despite the NYPD’s deputy commissioner of counter terrorism claiming the attack appeared to be terror-related, authorities did not identify a connection between Camovic and any terrorist groups.

After the attack, Camovic told a hospital worker that he was a “worthless piece of s–t.”

“I killed two police officers and my religion made me do it,” he told the hospital worker, according to court papers.

Camovic has already received a sentence of 30 years in prison for federal charges, which will be added to the time in his state case.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez made a statement on the sentencing saying “It’s a miracle none of these brave officers were killed when they were ambushed, stabbed, and shot by this brazen extremist. We have no tolerance for violence toward our law enforcement colleagues, and this long prison sentence holds him accountable for his depraved and unconscionable crimes.”
