A mom apparently decided that giving her 8 month old son shots of vodka was the best course of action, and the shocking reasons why have left doctors, authorities, and others livid.

A Russian woman is being investigated for the death of her sick 8 month old son, Zakhar, after she refused to admit him to the hospital despite doctors advice.

Reports show that Nadezhda Yarych brought Zakhar to a local hospital to figure out what was wrong with him. After doctors ran several tests, they determined that he had contracted a viral infection.

Doctors recommended that the infant be hospitalized until the infection cleared, but she refused, allegedly telling them that she preferred to treat the baby at home. Yarych reportedly brought the infant to the hospital four more times within the same week, but still refused to admit him each time the doctors advised her to.

According to sources close to the family, Yarych did not want to hospitalize Zakhar because she didn’t want to spend the holidays in the hospital with a sick baby.

Instead, she kept him home, and forced him to drink vodka so that he wouldn’t interrupt her celebrations during the holiday period. The sources also noted that this wasn’t a one-time thing, Yarych had given the infant vodka throughout the week so that she could continue her celebrations.

On January 5, 2019, Zakhar died. The post-mortem examination of the infant’s body indicated that the cause of death was a viral infection.

Soon after, authorities began their investigation of Yarych and her husband Mikhail Yarych, the baby’s stepfather, who was reportedly aware of what his wife was doing, yet did nothing to stop her.

There have been no updates on the case reported by any legitimate news sites since the initial report in 2019.
