It looks like Matt Damon is now getting a rude awakening from the Left. He’s about as liberal as they come himself, but he just discovered that the left eats their own.
In the opening segment, we have a zombie-like Matt Damon telling us that “fortune favors the brave.” He is looking into a computer-generated version of outer space capped off with a reddish orb, but no, the actor is not attempting to convince us to explore more of space, protect our planet, or any other great cause. Instead, he is trying to convince you to invest in cryptocurrency, which he calls the “truest act of bravery.” (GAG!)
To sum it up, this was just a Crypto.com ad that was making the rounds on social media, and it features celebrities such as Busta Rhymes, Tom Brady, and even Kim Kardashian encouraging the general public to invest their hard-earned dollars on this precarious medium.
However, many skeptics still believe that cryptocurrency only seems to help the rich get richer. Back to Matt Damon though.
Part of the reason that he receives a rude awakening would be due to the fact that he is shown walking past 3-D images of a mountain climber, a sailor, one of the Wright brothers operating an airplane, and a group of astronauts with a hip, young couple while he is lamenting the “almosts” and praising “the ones who embrace the moment and commit.” I guess if you’ve got the money, Matt Damon has the time.
The rest of Damon’s overwrought, thoroughly corporate-sounding monologue consisted of the following: “In these moments of truth, these men and women, these mere mortals, just like you and me, as they peer over the edge, they calm their minds and steel their nerves with four simple words that have been whispered by the intrepid since the time of the Romans: Fortune favors the brave.”
Of course, celebrities are famous for telling us where we should put our money, whether they are promoting their own products, starring in Pepsi commercials, or selling detox teas on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
Thus, it’s no surprise that actors, musicians and influencers alike are being paid handsomely to endorse whatever phony avenues of assets or money that they can get their hands on and convince us to throw away our money on. However, there are few who have compared investing in Bitcoin with pioneering into space or implying that life is nothing more than a meritocracy much like Damon has.
I tell you, even Jesse Owens couldn’t make that leap, and predictably, Damon has some of his fellow liberals extremely ticked off at him.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Matt Damon has said some things that liberal individuals and networks such as Twitter have ripped to shreds. There have been several comments regarding the Last Duel star’s recent foray:
“Saddest thing about Matt Damon’s macho-baiting crypto pitch where the viewer must ACT NOW or he’s a weak pussy is that this is a top 3 classic pitch all financial schemes have used to goad men into forking over their paltry savings,” tweeted journalist Adam H. Johnson. “Nothing has changed in 150 years.”
“The most crypto thing ever is the new Matt Damon commercial where they compare themselves to Galileo and Sir Edmund Hillary despite just being a bunch of digital con artists,” tweeted another.
Indeed, there were plenty of people who claimed that there was a lot of irony in Damon romanticizing a bold, new future after he proudly admitted that he had recently stopped using the word f**** after his daughter had written him a treatise telling him why the word was offensive to her. Apparently, this Crypto ad is yet another rude awakening for Damon, another of a long line of PR missteps that this also-ran actor has made in an effort to stay relevant.
