During Tuesday’s “The Jenna Ellis Show”, Kyle Rittenhouse, 19, discussed why he is still furious at the president and the media and explained what his life is like now.
Rittenhouse, who was acquitted of murder charges after killing two protesters at a Wisconsin Black Lives Matter protest, berated Biden on the podcast show. The criticism is part of his ongoing effort to settle grievances he encountered in the light of his trial becoming a political flashpoint.
Rittenhouse said the following:
“I’ve been all right, but it’s been a little difficult ’cause with all the false narratives that were put out, where people called me a white supremacist, a murderer and racist, and all those other lies, I don’t know if somebody’s seen one of those articles or watched one of those news stories,” he said.
He said he is still frightened to shop or walk his dog because he believes he could be attacked or harassed because of the “false lies that were put out.”
Then Jenna Ellis asked Rittenhouse what message he had for people interested in his story.
Rittenhouse responded:
“I was attacked, I was 17 years old. I was attacked and had to defend myself. I’m not a racist. I’m not a white supremacist. I’m not a domestic terrorist. I’m not a murderer, and anybody who wants to sit down and have a conversation, I’m more than open.”
However, Rittenhouse’s inclination to talk hasn’t always been mutual. He said that numerous attempts to reach out to Biden have failed.
“I reached out to Joe Biden several times — crickets, nothing,” he said. “He still hasn’t replied. So it just shows how much of a man he is to not sit down and talk.”
The president described being “angry and concerned” after Rittenhouse was acquitted but that he would respect with the jury’s decision in the case.
Here’s what Biden said after the verdict last November:
“I ran on a promise to bring Americans together because I believe that what unites us is far greater than what divides us”
The young man said:
“I believe everybody deserves a second chance, just how the Lord gives us second, third, fourth, fifth chances. I believe we need fair representation — because I’ve experienced bad representation. I believe we need good attorneys out there that are willing to put up the tough fight, are willing to walk into the courtroom against a prosecutor, are willing to stand up for the Constitution and defend their client and just be a successful person.”
Rittenhouse has made many public announcements about his eagerness to meet Biden to discuss any misconceptions he has about him after his well-known trial.
In fact, last December he spoke during an interview with Steven Crowder on his show “Louder with Crowder” and issued the following challenge to Biden.
“Mr. President, I hope you see this. … I’d have a sit-down and I’ll explain the facts to you so you can understand them,” he said.
“If he reached out, I’d be happy to tell him my side of the story of what happened,” he said.
It was during an interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News that he advised Biden to educate himself on the facts of the case before offering his opinion on it.
“Mr. President, if I could say one thing to you, I would urge you to go back and watch the trial and understand the facts before you make a statement,” he said. “It’s actual malice, defaming my character, for him to say something like that.”
“It is actually quite hysterical how nobody can go back and look at the facts of the case,” he said.
