The Southern Poverty Law Center has been classified as a leftist “hate group” by The National Review and has been described as “Both a Terrible Place to Work and a Place That Does Terrible Work” by Reason.com. Today this group is raging that former Vice President Mike Pence has named Mike Farris, the CEO of Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian legal defense group, to the advisory council of his new new organization: “Advancing American Freedom”.
So what’s the problem? The SPLC enjoys a favored status as ‘THE’ referential body of what is and is not a “hate group”, they are cited by silicon valley, corporate America and even the media as an “authoritative source”. But no one elected them, no one approved them. This is a private organization that has no oversight or accountability.
The Leftist Hate Group has in their “official” capacity determined that the Chandler, AZ based Alliance Defending Freedom is a “hate group” due to their rejection of Transgenderism and homosexuality on religious grounds. Therefore, the narrative is spreading that former VP Pence has added a “hate group leader to advisory board for his new organization” according to leftist screed-site AlterNet.
According to the National Review,
“The SPLC smears individuals and groups it differs with by labeling them as some form of “hater”: “racist,” “white supremacist,” “extremist,” and the like. That it is cited and even relied upon by the New York Times, Facebook, Amazon, Google, CNN, and others, and that Apple gave the organization a million dollars, is testimony to the moral state of mainstream media and corporate culture in America today.”
A Christian Organization Purpose Built to Defend Religious Freedom — Of Course They Think Its Hate
The Alliance Defending Freedom has been in existence since 1994, so why is it that they were only named as a “Hate Group” in 2016 a FULL 22 years into it’s mission? Its simple: What else happened in 2016? A government came to power that would actually align itself with the defense of Christians’ rights and a return to traditional American values that would Make America Great Again…
Attorney General Jeff Sessions defended the organization declaring that the SPLC has “used this designation as a weapon, and they have wielded it against conservative organizations that refuse to accept their orthodoxy and choose instead to speak their conscience,” he said. “They use it to bully and intimidate groups like yours, which fight for the religious freedom, the civil rights, and the constitutional rights of the American people.”
Under the Trump administration, Sessions’ DoJ was well underway thoroughly “reviewing partner organizations to make sure they no longer work with groups that, like the SPLC, “unfairly defame Americans for standing up for the Constitution or their faith.”
The other big reason the SPLC hates the ADL enough to reflectively declare THEM the hate group: they keep winning. The ADL represented Masterpiece Cakeshop and the National Institute for Family and Life Advocates arguing before the Supreme Court of The United States, and winning both times. The reason the Alliance Defending Freedom has sustained such an ongoing and withering series of attacks is that they are consistently over the target.
