Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is going to be in Trump’s camp during the primary race.
That being said, he decided to take a little shot at DeSantis.
My only question is if butting in on DeSantis’ state business is all that wise for Trump surrogates.
Going Left of Center
McCarthy decided to chime in on the Disney fight that DeSantis is in right now.
The fight is over taking away Disney’s right to self-govern, which was brought about due Disney pushing a woke agenda.
If anyone in the GOP comes off as defending Disney, they are, by default, defending the woke agenda.
Even so, McCarthy decided to stick his nose in here.
He stated, “I’d give him the same advice I gave President Biden. Why wouldn’t you sit down and negotiate and talk?
“If there’s differences, you can always find ways that you can solve this problem.
“If you think that the only action is to go to court, I believe that’s wrong place instead of solving it.
“This is a big employer inside Florida.
“I think the governor should sit down with them.
“I don’t think the idea of building a prison next to a place that you bring your family is the best idea.”
That last line, by the way, is a Democrat talking point, as DeSantis was clearly joking when he mentioned that idea.
McCarthy continued, “I think it’d be much better if you sat down and solved the problems.
“At the same point, if you’re going to be a large employer inside this state, you should also abide by the rules and run your business and don’t think you should get into politics.”
Trump has also hit DeSantis on this, so don’t be surprised to see a counterattack accusing Trump and his surrogates of having gone soft on the woke agenda.
