When there was resistance to McCarthy as Speaker, it was Jim Jordan’s name that was mentioned.
Rep. Jordan (R-OH), however, made it quite clear he was more interested in holding hearings than in being the Speaker.
After the last few weeks, I think it is safe to say the right decision was made.
His latest target… FBI Director Christopher Wray.
We Want Answers
A recent memo was leaked from the FBI that has really stirred things up.
The memo was related to an investigation that made it appear as though Catholics were being targeted and tied to extremist groups.
Jordan wrote, “The Committee on the Judiciary is continuing to examine the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s handling of domestic violent extremism [DVE] investigations.”
The letter continued, “In this document, the FBI purported to distinguish what it called ‘traditional Catholics’ from the disfavored RTC [radical-traditionalist Catholic] adherents, who the FBI characterized as embracing ‘anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ, and white supremacist ideology.”
He added that the FBI “even identified certain public policy issues — such as immigration and life issues — that it believed would ‘catalyze’ RTC adherents.”
Regarding the memo, the FBI responded, “Upon learning of the document, FBI Headquarters quickly began taking action to remove the document from FBI systems and conduct a review of the basis for the document.”
The agency added that it “is committed to sound analytic tradecraft and to investigating and preventing acts of violence and other crimes while upholding the constitutional rights of all Americans and will never conduct investigative activities or open an investigation based solely on First Amendment protected activity.”
Personally, I cannot wait to see Wray in the hot chair squirming when Jordan unleashes on him.
