Ivana Trump, the Czech-born American icon and former wife of President Donald Trump, mother of Ivanka, Eric, and Don Jr., passed away on July 14th. She was 73.
She was discovered dead at her home at 10 east 64th street in Manhattan at 12:40 p.m., police sources informed the press. The FDNY stated she suffered a heart attack and was pronounced dead when paramedics arrived.
“Our mother was an incredible woman — a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend,” Eric Trump said in a statement announcing her death. “She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren.”
Trump, born Ivana Marie Zelníčková, wed the real-estate developer in 1977. The two separated in 1992, however she kept her ex-husband’s surname. She held numerous functions in the Trump family companies throughout her life.
“I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City,” the former president wrote on Truth Social, his social media platform. “She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life.”
He added: “Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!”
Ivana Trump worked as a model in the early 70s, and met the future president in New York City in 1976. Their marital relationship underwent intense media scrutiny, especially over his affair with the model Marla Maples, whom he went on to wed. The pair then had child Tiffany Trump.
The couple’s divorce got global attention, and throughout a deposition for its procedures, Ivana Trump implicated her then-husband of rape. She later disavowed the accusation while President Trump was running for officein 2015.
”I have recently read some comments attributed to me from nearly 30 years ago at a time of very high tension during my divorce from Donald,” she said in the July 2015 statement. “The story is totally without merit. Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised 3 children that we love and are very proud of.”
