When Donald Trump was in office, he was accused of sending the IRS after James Comey and Andrew McCabe
Both former FBI officials were audited.
Even the New York Times concluded that Trump had weaponized the government… but they were wrong.
Did Not Happen
An extensive investigation was conducted by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration on this matter.
As it turns out, both were chosen randomly for audit due to a new program the IRS had been working on.
It was also noted that both McCabe and Comey were slotted for audit BEFORE Trump’s IRS appointment took office.
At the time, Comey stated, “Maybe it’s a coincidence or somebody misused the IRS to get at a political enemy. Given the role Trump wants to continue to play in our country, we should know the answer to that question.”
McCabe added, “The revenue agent I dealt with was professional and responsive. Nevertheless, I have significant questions about how or why I was selected for this.”
The reporter for the New York Times did more speculation than investigation…
“Because of Donald Trump’s continued harping on these two individuals, it’s hard on the face of it to simply accept that this is random,” says @nytmike on the IRS audits of James Comey and Andrew McCabe. https://t.co/uQnXM3hfcn

This is just utterly sloppy reporting that is unforgivable and the reason why the American people do not trust the media any longer.
