As the mainstream leftist media (and even some on the right) don their rose-colored glasses or nostalgia goggles and lionize the late Fmr. Senator Harry Reid (D-NV), notable Senate Majority Leader under President Barack Obama, somebody has to step up and remind everyone of precisely how evil this man was and how badly he damaged the United States of America. Many will scoff in disgust and talk about things like “decency” or “letting the body get cold”, but as Donald Trump Jr. observed in Phoenix at TurningPoint USA’s AmericaFest “[F]olks, we better be playing the same game. Okay? We’ve been playing T-ball for half a century while they’re playing hardball and cheating. Right?” And he is right. Think about it: If it were (God forbid) President Trump who had met his maker last night, the left and MSM would’ve wasted precisely ZERO SECONDS running wall-to-wall hit pieces, hatchet jobs, and smears to posthumously annihilate his image, dancing on his grave (and in the streets) and rubbing it in the faces of his family, friends, and followers. So… here we are… and here’s Harry Reid, dead as a doornail. Let’s go to work.

The Top Atrocities Of Harry Reid
1.) He Pushed ‘The Nuclear Option‘ Button In The Senate– The year was 2013, following the mid-term GOP Red Wave of 2012 President Obama and his Democrats lost control of the House of Representatives relegating Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to the backbench and replacing her with Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). Reid and the Senate Democrats though gained modestly securing a three-vote majority but still seven votes short of the 60 seat majority needed to break a filibuster. The GOP under Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had one play to make after two years of radical Democrat rule that saw the implementation of Obama-care: slow down and block everything. The Obama Presidency couldn’t be permitted to cause any further damage to the nation.
Reid chose to execute ‘the nuclear option’ which forever changed the Senate and rendered the minority party almost powerless to stop ideological radicals from ramming through their agenda on razor-thin majorities that invite resentment and anger. The nuclear option is basically a rule-change in the Senate which due to a procedural quirk only requires a simple majority (51 votes), to remove the 60-vote requirement to stop all debate and end filibustering on a vote.
NBC News explained at the time, “Former GOP Senate Majority leader Trent Lott coined the term because both parties saw it as an unthinkable final recourse, just like nuclear war. During a standoff over George W. Bush nominees in 2003, Republicans discussed invoking the parliamentary move by using the codeword “The Hulk” since it, like the superhero alter ego, cannot be controlled once it is unleashed.” And indeed it couldn’t be.
Reid opened pandora’s box, thinking he could let just a little of the chaos out by limiting the nuclear option to “Executive Branch appointees (such as Cabinet secretaries) and federal judges below the Supreme Court (such as for U.S. Courts of Appeal).” That proved false when McConnell added Supreme Court Nominees to the list of exceptions in April of 2017 after taking over for Reid with the Trump GOP majority. McConnell employed it much to Sen. Chuck Schumer’s dismay to push through Supreme Court Justice nominees Neal Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney-Barrett along with a drastic reshaping of the Federal Circuit Courts that the Democrats could do nothing to stop. And today, the only things preventing Schumer from using the nuclear option to annihilate the filibuster entirely and render the GOP minority completely powerless to even slow down the Democrat-Socialist agenda are Democrat Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ).

2.) Quietly Dismantling The Senate Minority’s Power- As noted by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “As Senate majority leader he took a sledgehammer to the Senate legislative process, by eschewing regular order for appropriations bills to ensure a permanent state of temporary budgets, denying the minority party the chance to amend bills through a maneuver known as “filling the tree,” and simply refusing to act on bills passed by the GOP-led House. This has directly contributed to the government shutdowns (and near-shutdowns) of recent years, even if Republicans tend to receive most of the blame.” Reid took the Senate during his tenure and moved it from being a deliberative body, designed carefully by our founders to prevent radical and extreme changes to our nation’s laws from happening quickly or carelessly, toward being a rubber stamp of the majority party. A move that now Majority Leader Schumer hopes to complete.
3.) Killing The Yucca Mountain and Skull Valley Goshute Nuclear Waste Repositories- Not only did Harry Reid almost single-handedly kill off the single, safe repository for American’s nuclear waste that was MID-CONSTRUCTION costing the nation Fifteen BILLION dollars in lost construction expenses and ongoing maintenance of the half-built mountain complex. It turns out that he did it for “Family friendships and political favors” according to The Salt Lake Tribune who admirably had the proverbial stones to report on this the day he died. While Robert Gehrke tried to put a good spin on it, the implication that everything rode on Reid’s common church ties with now Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) who then worked for Huntsman is inescapable. Gehrke wrote,
“Huntsman had a meeting with his general counsel, a young attorney with a sterling pedigree named Mike Lee, and the state’s new lobbyist, Bill Simmons, to map out a strategy.
“I said first and foremost, we can’t do this without Harry Reid,” Simmons told me after news of Reid’s death broke Tuesday night. “He controls what happens on this issue, bar none.” In a way, though, there couldn’t have been a better target for Utah to recruit to the cause.
Reid, who two years later would become Senate Majority Leader, the most powerful government office ever held by a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had a long-standing relationship with Huntsman’s father and the Huntsman family.
What’s more, Reid had attended the same LDS ward as Lee and was the Lee family’s home teacher.”
YIKES. Reid made a deal with Utah Senators Orrin Hatch and Bob Bennett on behalf of Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, that if they would oppose the Yucca Mountain complex in his home state, Nevada, he would kill the similar Skull Valley Goshute temporary storage facility in Utah, leaving American nuclear power plants with no choice but to store their waste onsite at hundreds of power plants nationwide. Massive economic decisions impacting millions of jobs and $15 Billion of already invested taxpayer dollars and the very safety and long-term viability of nuclear power in America was decided because two men knew each other from Bible study.
4.) A Career Ended By Rampant Corruption, Influence Peddling, And Bribery- Credit where it’s due, Judicial Watch spilled the tea on this all the way back in 2015, but this article is HARD TO FIND, almost like Google is burying the results… funny. They wrote, “For nearly a decade Judicial Watch has investigated and exposed Reid’s involvement in a multitude of transgressions and JW even warned the Senate Ethics Committee, but not surprisingly, no action was ever taken. ” Here are the highlights:
- “As far back as 2006 Reid was in hot water for violating Senate rules by concealing a seven-figure payoff on a suspicious land deal orchestrated by a longtime friend known for political bribery and mob ties. The influential senator secretly collected a $1.1 million profit on land he hadn’t personally owned for years. To hide the deal, Reid transferred ownership, legal liability and tax consequences to a company owned by a former casino lawyer who has been investigated by federal authorities.”
- “Months earlier Red got busted for accepting gifts from a state agency trying to influence him. In that scheme the lawmaker quietly took very expensive ringside boxing tickets from the Nevada Athletic Commission while that state agency was trying to influence him on the sport’s federal regulation.”
- “In 2012 Reid made JW’s corrupt politician list because he was embroiled in an influence-peddling scandal involving a Chinese “green energy” client of a Nevada law firm run by his son Rory. The senator was one of the Nevada projects most prominent advocates, helping recruit the company during a 2011 trip to China and applying his political muscle on its behalf, according to a mainstream news report. Reid’s son was an attorney at the prominent Las Vegas firm that represented the Chinese Company, ENN Energy Group, and helped it locate a 9,000-acre desert site for well below its appraised value from Clark County.”
- “Reid abused his authority to pressure the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to expedite a $115 million foreign investor visa deal critical to his son’s casino client. Reid got the DHS to override agency procedures to rush through hundreds of visa applications from foreign nationals who helped fund a Las Vegas hotel and casino that hired Rory Reid to provide legal representation for the project, according to a recent news report. The article goes into tremendous detail about the illicit scheme that evidently served as the straw that broke the camel’s back. A few days later Reid said he wouldn’t run for a sixth term in the Senate. His hometown newspaper called it a “surprise announcement.”
How quickly the mainstream media and radical leftists think we forget… Don’t let them forget the unpunished crimes of Harry Reid. And remember: If the Biden-Harris regime, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi succeed in destroying the filibuster, annihilating our electoral system and replacing it with a single, federalized one they will always win, and taxing and spending us into oblivion… here’s the man you have to thank for it.
