It took a minute, but the crooks have finally figured out how to make dating apps work for them.
An Arizona man thought he had set up a hot date on Tinder.
By the time the night was over, all his money was gone.
Not What It Seemed
The unidentified man showed up at an Embassy Suites to meet “Sonya.”
What he found in the room instead were Jose Sandoval Jaquez, 32, and Crystal Hulsey, 33.
When the man arrived, Jaquez stuck a gun in his face and demanded all his possessions.
That included his bank card and PIN.
He was then ordered to drive the two thieves to his bank and they started to empty his accounts.
The police report stated, “The victim stated $900 was taken from Chase Bank on Sept. 17 from the drive through and a total of $3,000 had been taken from his account since the initial incident.”
The suspects were caught because they checked into a hotel using their real names.
Authorities were able to track them down via the bank statements and Zelle and Cash App withdrawals.
Police set up a sting operation, but the suspects were able to flee the scene and conducted a carjacking before police were able to apprehend them.
They both now face charges that include assault and armed robbery with a deadly weapon.
