ICYMI – Well, we have some of the drama out of the presidential race.
Someone that everyone thought would be running has decided that now is not the time.
Former Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has decided not to run in 2024.
Not Happening
Pompeo threw a few jabs at Trump, but it never seemed to matter.
In early polling, Pompeo did not even register on the radar.
The shame of it for Pompeo is that he also probably burned the bridge with Trump after tossing those jabs at him.
Had he just kept his mouth shut, he probably would have been a strong consideration for VP or Secretary of State again, then he could have made a run in 2028.
In announcing his decision, Pompeo was asked if Trump had anything to do with him not running, and he said it did not, but that is not realistic.
He then discussed military and excessive spending, the two issues he has concentrated on during most of his appearances.
Pompeo stated, “These are things that I care about. We were thinking about, can we impact them?
“Is this the right time for us to go seek the presidency, to go try and work on this?
“And we just simply came to the conclusion this wasn’t this wasn’t the moment for us.”
In terms of backing a candidate, Pompeo is not ready to dive in just yet.
He stated, “When I figure out who that person is, I feel like I’ve always done in my life, I’ll get behind them and do everything I can to help them.”
