Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has officially launched his reelection bid, filing paperwork to run for governor once again and saying that he will continue to fight for Floridians.
In a statement about his reelection bid, DeSantis said that he had “delivered on all fronts” for the citizens of Florida, but said that he’s “only just begun to fight.”
According to reporting from One America News, “The governor pointed to the state’s economic growth, historic restoration efforts in the Everglades and support of small businesses statewide as reasons for his reelection.”
DeSantis has been governor of Florida since 2018, and quickly rose to the top of the party as he instituted policies that made him popular with conservatives both inside his state and across the country. His pandemic related policies were especially popular, as he took the pro-freedom approach while other governors — including many so-called Republicans — took a more authoritarian approach.
Gov. DeSantis has championed parents’ rights, businesses’ rights, and individual liberty throughout his time as governor, making his reelection almost inevitable in today’s political climate.
“I also protected individual Floridians and small businesses by keeping Florida open and stood up for students and parents by ensuring schools provided in-person instruction and by championing the rights of parents,” the governor said. “We’ve also taken on Big Tech censorship, banned sanctuary cities, ensured that municipalities cannot defund law enforcement and stood up to the Biden regime.”
