One of the original stars of Fox News is no longer with us.
Uma Pemmaraju passed away on Monday.
She was 64.
A Good Soul
Pemmaraju’s passion was reporting on the disenfranchised in this country.
She was not only an original anchor at Fox but also one of the few Indian American journalists that achieved this level of success at the time.
At one point, she left Fox News for Bloomberg, but she eventually returned and continued to make her mark as a substitute anchor for some of the biggest shows on Fox News, including “The Fox Report” and “Fox News Live.”
Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott paid tribute to Pemmaraju.
She stated, “We are deeply saddened by the death of Uma Pemmaraju, who was one of FOX News Channel’s founding anchors and was on the air the day we launched.
“Uma was an incredibly talented journalist as well as a warm and lovely person, best known for her kindness to everyone she worked with. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her entire family.”
On her career, Uma had once stated, “I’m a conduit to help other people.
“I don’t want to sound too sentimental.
“But that’s what I’m about.
“I want to use my celebrity to help people, to help bring about something that needs to be done.”
She had won numerous awards throughout her career, including “Boston’s Best Anchor” in 1996 and 1997, and was named one of Spotlight Magazine’s “20 Intriguing Women of 1998.”
