Federal Employees Suggest Boycott Over Being Forced To Work In-Person

Federal employees are now whining about being forced to go back to work in-person, with some suggesting a boycott of local businesses who have nothing to do with the order.

One of President Donald Trump’s first executive orders after taking office was a demand that all federal employees return to the office rather than working remotely.

The executive order read: “Heads of all departments and agencies in the executive branch of Government shall, as soon as practicable, take all necessary steps to terminate remote work arrangements and require employees to return to work in-person at their respective duty stations on a full-time basis, provided that the department and agency heads shall make exemptions they deem necessary. This memorandum shall be implemented consistent with applicable law.”

While the vast majority of Americans have no choice but to go to work in-person, it appears that these federal employees think that they are above them. Not only do they think they deserve better than the people who pay their salaries, but they also think that the best way to fight back against Trump’s order is to target average Americans running businesses in the area around their workplaces.

While some of these workers have simply resigned from their position — which is the adult response to a change in the workplace that you disagree with — others have flocked to the far-left platform Reddit to whine about the order and discuss ways to fight being forced to actually work.

In a thread on the r/Fednews subreddit — a forum for content related to federal employees — users are urging their colleagues to boycott businesses near their workplaces to show how angry they are about being forced to go into their offices, claiming that it would help their cause somehow by reducing any benefit to the local economy that could come from people returning to work.

“For those that end up being forced back to their respective offices I would avoid patronizing the local businesses in those areas. Bring your own lunch to avoid using the eateries and grocery stores, avoid parking in pay parking (use mass transit if available), and don’t buy anything at the shops or gas stations,” the post read.

Numerous federal employees responded to the post in agreement, advocating for people to bring their lunches from home or patronize businesses near their home instead of near their work.

“If I have to go back, I am not spending any money on the businesses within my work area. I will be bringing lunch and whatever I need from home, including the amount of water I need for the day,” one user replied.

Another user put the true elitism and government-worship of these federal employees on full display, questioning how “pandering to local businesses” is in the interest of the federal government — a truly shocking statement from someone whose salary is funded by the owners and patrons of these local businesses.

“Since when is pandering to local businesses the interst [sic] of the federal government? If they’re dependent on federal employees in the area, they did not have a sound business model, and the capitalist model the GOP stands by demands that they be driven to extinction,” the user claimed.

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk broke the news about this ridiculous Reddit thread in a post on X, writing: “Never forget that in addition to being lazy, these people are nasty, spiteful, resentful individuals who think they are better than ordinary people who have to work.”

X users were quick to point out how elitist, hilarious, ineffective, and illogical this plan is — as these federal employees have not patronized local businesses since they began working from home, meaning that “boycotting” them would not make any difference at all.

One user wrote: “‘Boycotting’ businesses near your office that you haven’t been spending money at because you’ve been working from home to protest not being able to work from home is such a stupid self own.”

“When employees have meltdowns because someone asked them to do the thing they’re paid to do… that’s how you know entitlement has reached Olympic levels,” another user wrote.
