Popular leftist radio host Charlamagne tha God expressed shock over President Joe Biden’s White House meeting with President-elect Donald Trump, questioning how the party that previously declared Trump to be a “Nazi” and a “fascist” can suddenly become friendly with him and welcome him back to the White House cordially.
In the Thursday morning episode of Charlamagne’s show, “The Breakfast Club,” he highlighted the fact that Biden and the rest of the Democrats have been calling Trump a “fascist” and the second coming of Adolph Hitler just days ago, and now Biden is suddenly holding a pleasant conversation with Trump.
“I just don’t understand the White House visit,” Charlamagne began. “Granted, I’m glad there’s a peaceful transition of power, but what happened to the threat of democracy talk? What happened to the fascist talk?”
“By the way, I know I’ve said those things about Trump as well,” he added. “But I’m not talking about me. I’m talking about his political opponents like President Biden. When they say it, it holds way more weight than me. I’m just trying to figure out, how to you go from ‘He’s an existential threat to democracy’ to ‘Welcome back’?”
His co-host, DJ Envy, then chimed in to point out that Biden even looked happy during his meeting with Trump — stating that he was “cheesing” for the cameras. Many other political commentators have referenced Biden’s happiness that day, with some, like legendary podcast host Joe Rogan, arguing that Biden voted for Trump in response to the Democrats forcing him out of the race.

Charlamagne responded by noting that he partially understood that Biden was trying to uphold certain political “norms” by holding the meeting with his successor, but it was still incredibly unsettling that he could pivot so easily to being kind to someone that he spent years fearmongering to the American people about.
By the end of the discussion, Charlamagne appeared to be giving up on the matter entirely, stating: “I’m gonna stop minding white people’s business.”

This wasn’t the first time since Trump’s landslide election victory that Charlamagne questioned why Democrats had suddenly stopped calling Trump a “threat to democracy.”
“Don’t y’all find it strange that now that he’s won, they’re not calling him a threat to democracy? They’re not calling him a fascist. I mean, damn, on Monday, they was just calling him that. I would think that, you know, if you really believe that, then somebody’s speech would be about how America ‘effed up and how things are about to be really bad. It just makes you wonder how much of it did they really believe, or how much of it was just politics. That’s all,” he said during the November 8 broadcast of the show.
