An unhinged Democrat has claimed that all laws passed before 1965 should be considered “presumptively unconstitutional.”
Elie Mystal, a radical leftist, regular guest on MSNBC, and justice correspondent for The Nation, made the claims during an appearance on “The View” on April 1, though he did not intend the remarks as an April Fools joke.
While he was attempting to promote his new book, “Bad Law: Ten Popular Laws That Are Ruining America,” Mystal insisted that any laws that were passed before the 1965 Voting Rights Act was enacted should be thrown out, stating that until the law was passed, the United States was “an apartheid country.”
The conversation began with leftist co-host Sunny Hostin, who stated: “One of the laws you write about is playing out right now — the Immigration and Nationality Act. Now, this administration is using this statute to justify the detentions and possible deportations, actually, of visa and Green-Card holders who they seek to deem a threat to U.S. foreign policy. What do you make of the administration’s use of the act, and, more broadly, is Trump really setting up a First Amendment showdown, which is what Whoopi’s been talking about?”
“Yes, absolutely,” Mystal responded before launching into his unhinged rant.
“One of my premises for the book is that every law passed before the 1965 Voting Rights Act should be presumptively unconstitutional, right? Because before the 1965 Voting Rights Act, we were functionally an apartheid country. Not everybody who lived her could vote here,” he said.
“So why should I give a f—k about some law that some old white man passed in the 1920s?” he asked.

Of course, he wasn’t done there, as soon after he began facing backlash for his insane comments, Mystal made a racially-charged post on X about supposedly having “pissed off the white wing so, as usual, I’m doing something right.”
ANYWAY, my new book, Bad Law: 10 Popular Laws Ruining America, is available now.
I talked about it today on The View and it seems to have pissed off the white wing so, as usual, I'm doing something right. https://t.co/0ubQ0lwzD2

During the same appearance on “The View,” Mystal also insisted that deporting criminal illegal aliens and gang members was “fascism.” He also recently stated during an appearance on “Morning Joe” that the U.S. should eliminate all voter registration laws.
