House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) tried and failed to give President Donald Trump a new nickname, as Trump supporters immediately embraced the nickname in a positive way.
Apparently, Democrats have not yet learned that Trump is the king of nicknames, and any effort to do the same to him has been met with ridicule.
In a video posted to X, Jeffries whined about Trump and “far right extremists,” then proceeded to try to nickname Trump.
“Far right extremists are trying to crush the American dream. We will bring it back to life,” he wrote in the caption.
The video, which was mostly just Jeffries speaking directly to the camera and waving his hands around, the House minority leader insisted that Trump and his Republican allies were the cause of America’s problems — despite the fact that Trump has only been president for less than one month, while Democrats controlled the White House and the Senate for the last 4 years.
“This administration is making America weaker across the world and creating the space for people like China and Russia to step in while hurting everyday Americans,” Jeffries claimed without evidence.
The House minority leader then revealed his new nickname for Trump: “Captain Chaos.”
“Captain Chaos and the Extreme MAGA Republicans spent last year promising to lower the high cost of living and running away from Project 2025 as if it didn’t exist,” Jeffries claimed.
He then suggested that because Trump has not been able to miraculously lower prices in just a few weeks after taking office, the president had already failed to keep his campaign promise — even though Trump has kept dozens of his promises just in the first month of his term, and it is not always easy to immediately fix the problems from the previous administration.
Jeffries also pushed the debunked “Project 2025” hoax, claiming that Republicans were “implementing the most extreme parts of the Project 2025 agenda” — despite Trump having nothing to do with Project 2025 and openly opposing numerous parts of the agenda.

Trump supporters were quick to embrace the new nickname, with New York City Councilwoman Vicki Paladino writing: “Why do they insist on making him sound cool?”

Another user fired back at Jeffries with a nickname that the internet has given him, writing: “I highly doubt Dollar Tree Obama came up with that nickname all by himself. I’m 100% happier with Captain Chaos in our White House instead of Crooked Joe and Comrade Kamala.”
