County Supervisors Vote to Start Firing 4,000 Unvaccinated From Sheriffs Dept.

Sheriffs

In a move that defies any convention of logic or common sense: the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has just unanimously authorized civilian administrators to fire up to 4,000 members of the LA Sheriffs Department who have refused to submit to COVID19 vaccine mandates, even while those mandates are being rolled back around the world. The vote was vocally opposed by LA County Sherriff Alex Villanueva who refused to impose the mandate on his officers or on local businesses.

Without question, this move is tantamount to societal suicide given that Los Angeles County crimes skyrocketed from 2019 to 2022 with homicides alone jumping up 94%! Grand Theft Auto is up 59% as well!

According to ABC7 LA, less than 60% of the LASD has submitted to the jab, meaning that a jaw-dropping 40% of the staff civilian and sworn alike are now in the crosshairs of the county attorneys, the County’s Cheif Executive Officer, and the Personnel Director. The outlet reported that they have been given,

“overriding authority to discipline the employees of any county department for noncompliance with the county’s policy or directives related to the policy.”

LA Sherriff Protests With Harsh Warning

In a statement protesting the board’s decision Sherriff Villanueva wrote,

“Today the Board of Supervisors followed through on their threat and voted 4-0 (1 abstention) to form a suicide pact and start the process to fire 4,000 deputies for not being vaccinated.  Showing deliberate indifference to the obvious impact on public safety, the Board hid behind an alleged threat to public safety they couldn’t back up with data.  Tellingly, the Board’s own County Counsel (Rodrigo Castro-Silva) couldn’t offer even a basic legal opinion on the legality of the Board’s motion, or the obvious legal challenges they will face.

The Board, who ignored the comments made by thousands of their constituents today during their meeting, is now seeking to fire the very same personnel who were forced to work in person, exposing themselves to the COVID-19 virus when there was no vaccine, while the Supervisors and most of the workforce were telecommuting from the comfort and safety of their own homes.  Supervisor Kuehl falsely asserted in her motion that LASD employees represented 74% of infected County employees, ignoring the simple fact most infections were during pre-vaccine availability.

This moral failure of leadership represents a curious backtracking of their position on the authority of the Human Resources Director to override the authority of the sheriff.  At the beginning of my tenure they claimed I did not have the authority to hire and fire my workforce.  Now they are claiming the opposite and need to remove that delegated authority from me!

It is important to remember Department personnel who chose not to vaccinate are required to submit to weekly COVID testing, and have committed no administrative offense.

This is nothing more than another politically motivated stunt by the Board, which has no bearing on public health, but will definitely harm public safety.”

Villanueva called out the activist groups leading the charge directly on Twitter.

Firing Sheriffs Officers That They Can’t Possibly Replace

A final vote on the move will be coming on March 15th, while LA Democrat Mayoral candidate and State Rep. Karen Bass proposed to increase hiring in the LAPD which is already under Democrat control to combat the surge in crime, although simple logic would say that LAPD would need to hire at least 4,000 more staff just to break even and so would need to exceed even that gargantuan number in order to make a dent. Unfortunately, Police retirements are up 45 percent and resignations by 18 percent nationwide and recruitment is struggling to keep up, per the New York Times.

Simply put, Los Angeles Democrats are creating a mass shortage of law enforcement that they will never be able to recoup as crime rates continue to explode. Should this effort go forward in March, John Carpenter’s Escape From L.A. may need to move the Non-Fiction section.
