The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has been escalating for some time now.
The Lithuanian government closed two border crossings with Belarus on August 18th – Tverecius/Vidzy and Sumskas/Losha – leaving only four open (Lavoriskes/Kotlova, Medininkai/Kamenny, Raigardas/Privalka, Salcininkai/Beniakoni).
Additionally, Poland is not allowing US citizens to enter overland from Belarus.
Unfortunately this means that US citizens are unable to travel either into Russia or Ukraine due to their proximity to this ongoing conflict.
Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine combined with the buildup of Russian military forces in Belarus along with local law enforcement puts those travelling or residing within the country at risk of detainment or even worse.
As such it is imperative that all U.S Citizens currently residing in Belarus evacuate as soon as possible through one of the remaining border crossings into Lithuania or Latvia for their own safety and security until such time that tensions have cooled down enough for them to safely return home without fear of endangering themselves needlessly.
Given these dire warnings it should come as no surprise that Western Europe is now preparing itself for war.
Especially considering how close both countries are geographically speaking which makes it all too easy for Russian forces to take advantage of this situation if they feel threatened enough by what is happening across their borders.
