President Joe Biden threatened violence over the infamous Puerto Rico joke from former President Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally — though some believe it was unclear whether he was threatening the comedian or Trump.
Over the weekend, Trump held a massive rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City, which included an appearance by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe of the incredibly popular “Kill Tony” podcast. During the rally, Hinchcliffe told a joke that was perfectly in line with his style as a “roast comedian” — but led to backlash from the anti-comedy left.
“There’s a lot going on. Like, I don’t know if you know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” he quipped, likely referring jokingly to Puerto Rico’s current crisis regarding landfills, which are reportedly over capacity and in violation of regulations.

While some conservatives believed the joke was in poor taste, especially for a rally just before a very contentious election, most were not bothered by the joke — as it was just comedy.
Meanwhile, Democrats were absolutely outraged, with many directly blaming Trump for the joke.
During a campaign event in Baltimore on Tuesday for Kamala Harris, Biden effectively threatened to drown Trump over the joke, though some believe the threat was aimed at Hinchcliffe.
“I’d like to take that guy for a swim out there,” Biden said angrily.

Biden’s comment came after he announced funding for several states and Puerto Rico to “modernize ports.”
“I’m proud to announce we’re delivering $3 billion in funding from my Inflation Reduction Act to help clean up and modernize ports in 27 different states and territories from Pennsylvania to Georgia, Michigan and beyond. Including, yes, Puerto Rico,” he said in an apparent reference to the joke.
While a simple joke about Puerto Rico was enough for Democrats to threaten violence and attack the entire Madison Square Garden rally, apparently the Democrats own threats and inflammatory rhetoric are perfectly fine.
Trump has apparently had enough of the Democrats’ insane rhetoric and threats of violence, as he declared in a speech on Tuesday at Mar-a-Lago that the Harris campaign is a “campaign of hate” — referring to their repeated efforts to put Trump in harm’s way by referring to him as a Nazi.
“She’s going out and only criticizing, talking about Hitler and Nazi because her record is horrible,” Trump said, adding: “Perhaps more than anything else, it’s a campaign of hate, a campaign of absolute hate. After two assassination attempts in just over three months, her lies and her slanders are very shameful and really inexcusable.”
