This week, Hunter Biden’s second trial will begin, and it is not going to be pretty for the Biden family.
While Harris and Biden are out stumping, the details of Hunter’s rockstar lifestyle are going to be brought out into the open.
His tax evasion trial starts this week, and prosecutors will be showing where Hunter spent his money rather than paying his taxes.
No Excuse
Hunter has been dealt some serious blows during the leadup to this case.
For instance, Hunter wanted to use his addiction as an excuse for not paying his taxes, but the judge disallowed that.
His legal team also wanted the details of Hunter’s lifestyle disallowed, but again, the judge allowed it, but he was adamant that the courtroom would not be turned into a salacious environment.
Defense attorney Mark Geragos stated, “They want to slime him because that is the whole purpose.”
Prosecuting attorney Leo Wise responded, “He describes partying in hotels with a cast of strippers.
“He chose to pay them, which is fine — it’s America, you can do that. But then he chose to take it as a business deduction.”
U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi sided with prosecutors.
He stated, “The Court generally agrees with the Government that evidence of the precise nature of Mr. Biden’s expenditures is necessary for the jury’s assessment of Mr. Biden’s state of mind at least as to Counts 6 through 8.”
On using Hunter’s addictions to excuse his behavior, the judge added, “Evidence of the causes of Mr. Biden’s addiction is irrelevant, and neither party may elicit such evidence or refer to any alleged causes of Mr. Biden’s addiction in the opening statements.”
That ruling was specifically due to the defense wanting to use Beau Biden’s death and that of Hunter’s mother as the reason he leaned into alcohol and drugs.
