On April 4, Bondi announced that “nine MS-13 terrorists” had been arrested in connection to four reopened cold cases in South Florida from 2014 and 2015 — and warned other gang members that they should “self-deport right now because we’re coming after you.”
“Nine MS-13 terrorists have been taken off our streets and four cold murder cases have been solved thanks to the great investigative work of the FBI and our law enforcement partners,” the attorney general said. “Let this be a lesson: no matter how long it takes, we will never give up in our pursuit of justice.”
These cases were all cold for years and were finally reopened in 2020.
According to Bondi, three of the suspects have been connected to the brutal murder of a suspected rival gang member in 2015, where the victim was stabbed over 100 times, then shot.
“More arrests are coming,” Bondi vowed during a press conference with law enforcement officials in Fort Lauderdale. “If you are a gang member living in this country, I’d self-deport right now because we’re coming after you.”
Bondi is also reportedly seeking the death penalty for these three gang members.

The remaining six MS-13 gang members have been charged in connection with three separate killings, all of which involved extreme violence with weapons like knives, machetes, and firearms.
“These gangs are organized. They are terrorists. And look at these guys, they thought they got away with it for almost a decade, but they did not,” Bondi explained. “They are living among us because they think they can get away with this, and they cannot.”
As part of their efforts to crack down on illegal immigration and illegal alien gang activity, the Trump administration has been working closely with state and local law enforcement to fight MS-13. Many of the recent arrests of illegal alien gang members were part of a multi-agency operation titled Operation Sombra De La Bestia, or Operation Shadow of the Beast.
Broward County Sheriff Gregory Tony also spoke during the press conference, warning the gang members: “It doesn’t matter when you committed the crime. It doesn’t matter what part of this world you’re from. If you come here in this community and decide that you’re going to take a life, we’re going to unleash every single resource to bring you to justice.”
