ABC News Anchor Gets Promptly Fact-Checked After Spouting Nonsense

ABC News used to be one of those organizations that you could trust to give you the unvarnished truth. You might not be liking what you were hearing, but at the end of the day you knew that it was the truth.

Unfortunately now, they are doing nothing but spreading lies like the rest of them.

An ABC News anchor was promptly fact checked after spouting the usual leftist nonsense, this time in front of a guest that was actually prepared to prove him wrong.

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos and other panelists on the news channel’s “This Week” apparently came down with a sudden case of amnesia during the show on January 3rd.

The group was discussing the left’s favorite topic, the January 6th Capitol riot and political violence, when conservative commentator Sarah Isgur had to remind Stephanopoulos that the right was not the only political party that has questioned the results of an election in recent history, or engaged in violence in Washington, D.C.

The discussion spurred from a new Washington Post/University of Maryland poll which revealed that 1 in 3 Americans believe that violence against government can be justified. Of course, responding to that poll, Stephanopoulos had framed the issue as unique to the Republican Party by only noting the GOP breakdown from the poll.

Unfortunately for him, Isgur, a staff writer at the Dispatch and an ABC News contributor, came prepared.

“When I look forward to 2024, I’m deeply concerned by these numbers because what it says to me is that people on both sides are not ready to accept the results of the next election,” she said.

“Both sides?” Stephanopoulos questioned.

“I absolutely think that is the case,” Isgur responded.

While Stephanopoulos noted that 40% of Republicans in the survey believed that violence against the government can be justified, he neglected to report that the same poll found 41% of independent voters agreed, as did 23% of Democratic voters.

Isgur went on to explain to the ABC News anchor that Hillary Clinton questioned the legitimacy of former President Donald Trump’s victory in 2016, so the idea that Republicans questioning 2020 is so unbelievably dangerous is just hypocritical.

“You look back at 2017, look at the ABC poll on whether Trump was legitimately elected. It was about six to eight points off of this one right now, not that far off. Hillary Clinton, asked in 2017, was Trump legitimately elected, point blank? She did not say yes. She said she had questions,” she said. “You think Democrats, if Donald Trump runs again, if Donald Trump wins in 2024, you think Democrats are going to think he was legitimately elected? You got to be kidding me.”

Of course, the factual information Isgur was providing went right over the panelists’ heads. The segment ended with Democracy for America CEO Yvette Simpson claiming that “no precedent” exists for what happened in 2020, and on January 6th, and claimed that the problem is only found “purely in the Republican camp.”

The facts just don’t support the left’s claims. Following up on Isgur’s statements, we can see that Hillary Clinton has outright questioned the legitimacy of the 2016 election on multiple occasions.

In November of 2017, speaking with leftist propaganda outlet Mother Jones, Clinton stated: “I think that there are lots of questions about its legitimacy and we don’t have a method for contesting that in our system. That’s why I’ve long advocated for an independent commission to get to the bottom of what happened.”

On the subject of political violence in Washington, D.C., 200 rioters were arrested in our nation’s capital on Inauguration Day 2017 when angry leftists staged a riot over Donald Trump‘s victory. Several police officers were seriously injured during the violence, and businesses were damaged. A limousine was also infamously torched.

So, Isgur was right. Questioning the legitimacy of an election and political violence in Washington, D.C. are not just right wing problems, like the left likes to claim.
