Tikiya Allen had a bright future ahead of her, but unfortunately that wasn’t enough. As Detroit, Michigan continues to decline into a cesspool of crime, average citizens in Detroit continue to suffer the consequences of disastrous Democrat policies.
As crime surges in Democrat-run cities like Detroit, more innocent lives are lost. Tikiya Allen, 18, was just innocently riding her bicycle outside of a friend’s duplex at around 4:30 p.m. in the area of Pingree and Linwood when she tragically lost her life.
A gunman chose that moment to open fire outside of a home in the area, killing Allen and injuring a man.
According to police, a person in a red Taurus opened fire on a group of people just hanging out outside before fleeing the scene. Both Allen and a 20 year old man were struck by the gunfire, though the man is expected to survive.
Allen had a bright future ahead of her. She was a nursing student at Oakland University, and had dreams of becoming an anesthesiologist.
“You just don’t shoot nobody innocent. You took somebody life and loved one. It wasn’t meant for her,” said Kai Cooks, Allen’s mother. “I want the killer off the street that did this.”
Detroit Police Chief James White has announced that he doesn’t believe the shooting was random, and has made an impassioned plea for the violence to stop.
“It’s absolutely unacceptable. Everybody has got too tired of this tired of me telling this story over and over again,” he said.
Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to come forward.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created to raise money for Allen’s funeral.
