Dholpur, Guwahati, Assam, India- VICE media, because it’s what they do, are ginning up criticism toward police forces in the Assam state of India, where Bangladeshi”illegal encroachers” or “illegal settlers” (read: illegal immigrants) are being evicted from squatting in shanties. A shocking video has emerged and been propagated online of a Bangladeshi man armed with a spear chasing a photojournalist who runs for safety behind an advancing squad of police. The spear-armed man advances on police until he is shot in the chest, police then advance wielding clubs to make sure he’s down. Then it gets a tad weird when the journalist who was fleeing for his life runs back over and stomping and punching his attacker, which most any logical person would consider to be unnecessary and in poor taste. Naturally, this is presented in very mischaracterized form by the far-leftist media, simply interested in making the Indian PM Narendra Modi, a staunch Trump-ally look bad.
The photo-journalist was arrested for his actions according to Assam Police, and reported by India Today.
“The moment I saw the video, I ordered the immediate arrest of the photographer. There is zero tolerance for such actions,” Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta told reporters.
Assam police reported two casualties and maintained that 11 police personnel, were injured in the eviction drive at Dholpur. For the record the person who posted the video to Twitter Kavita Krishnan, is a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) and has the Twitter bio: she/her CPIML Politburo member, AIPWA Secretary, communist feminist, so, consider the source.
What protocol orders firing to the chest of a lone man coming running with a stick @DGPAssamPolice @assampolice ? Who is the man in civil clothes with a camera who repeatedly jumps with bloodthirsty hate on the body of the fallen (probably dead) man? pic.twitter.com/gqt9pMbXDq

Police Lives Matter In India Too
When a person takes the time (unlike your typical VICE writer) to research this for the context they pretty quickly find that the alleged “protestors” have been hospitalizing Assam police for WEEKS who have peacefully attempted to serve them with the eviction notifications and help them move off the land. These are not the “mostly peaceful” protesters that you might find in saaaaay Kenosha or Minneapolis, Washington, D.C. or Portland, ( well…actually…). Scratch that. These are not “protesters” they are illegal immigrants who have armed themselves and have no problem responding with lawful orders to disperse and leave with violence.
A report from the Assam Government described the situation,
“Illegal Bangladeshis descend on the land like an army of marauding invaders armed with dangerous weapons, set up illegal villages, mostly on the char lands overnight, in full view and with the tacit, if not active, connivance and encouragement of corrupt government officers, as also with abetment of communal political leaders,” read the report.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told INDIA TODAY that he had ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident. “I condemn the episode. It was unfortunate. We will take strict action if any violation is found in the inquiry,” he said.
It was terrible to see this man shot by police, and the actions of the reporter while no doubt influenced by the fact that seconds before he was running from the man for his life, were inappropriate, (quite literally kicking a man when he’s down). However, and placing no judgment on who was right and who was wrong here, one part of this calculus is the same everywhere in the world: If your response to police is to beat them within an inch of their lives and then charge at them with sticks and spears…
YOU’RE LIKELY TO GET SHOT.
Assam Police went to evict illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. Liberals will tell you this is #HindutvaStateTerror & #Islamophobia_in_india
But, They won't tell you that these Bangladeshis were fully prepared for violence & severely injured several policemen. pic.twitter.com/7IK0PvAY8X
