When Donald Trump said he would not attend the debate, Fox News made a big move.
About a dozen of Trump’s surrogates had planned on attending the debate, but Fox News pulled their invitations.
Later, however, Fox News made a concession that handed Trump a clear win.
They Caved
The news that Trump surrogates would be able to attend the debate was announced on Newsmax by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).
He stated, “The RNC gave control over the spin room to Fox News, we were allowed to go and observe the debate but there was a little bit of confusion I can tell you now that’s all been sorted out.
“We are going to have the Trump team in full force at this debate, we are going to have access to the spin room, we’re going to be there to observe the debate and I can’t wait to be giving my hot takes on Newsmax afterward and share with you my perspective on how it went.”

The concession made by Fox News is that Trump surrogates could enter the spin room as long as they were invited guests of a news network.
Gaetz had clearly been invited by Newsmax, as I am sure other Trump surrogates were.
I turned it on briefly to see Kellianne Conway talking to Sean Hannity.
After watching the debate, I still think Trump made a huge mistake in not showing up.
I don’t think any candidate had a performance that wowed voters, and I think Trump could have effectively ended the primary last night with a big performance.
He will still tilt the news cycle, however, as he is expected to turn himself in to authorities in Georgia, giving the debate all of about 12 hours of buzz before the news cycle turns back to him.
