Get ready for a bit of controversy regarding Ukraine and how we are supplying its war effort against Russia.
The big news of the week on this front was the possibility of cluster bombs being sent to Ukraine.
Joe Biden not only confirmed that this week, but he also made another statement that has everyone’s ears up regarding the national security of our nation.
Running Low
Virtually every nation in the world has made cluster bombs illegal, but the United States is not one of them, nor is Ukraine or Russia.
President Zelensky has requested cluster bombs, and human rights organizations have pushed back on the idea of sending these munitions, but Biden has confirmed they will be shipped.
Biden recently stated, “This is a war relating to munitions.
“And they’re running out of that ammunition, and we’re low on it.
“And so, what I finally did, I took the recommendation of the Defense Department to – not permanently – but to allow for this transition period, while we get more 155 weapons, these shells, for the Ukrainians.
“They’re trying to get through those trenches and stop those tanks from rolling.
“But it was not an easy decision.
“We’re not signatories to that agreement, but it took me a while to be convinced to do it.”
Keep in mind, when there were reports of Russians using the same munitions in the early days of this conflict, then-Press Secretary Jen Psaki stated that it could be considered a war crime…

So, the United States now stands on the brink of being accused of committing war crimes by human rights groups as well as admitting that our stockpiles are low and we are probably incapable of defending ourselves at this point if we are attacked.
Nice job, Joe.
