Tuesday’s dogfight between our MQ-9 Reaper drone and a pair of Russian Su-27 jets, over the Black Sea, turned into a literal smackdown. Uncle Sam was on the losing end. That wasn’t nice, Joe Biden declared. He’s upset about the littering, calling Russia’s attack “environmentally unsound.”
US Drone downed by Russia
Fox news is reporting the basic facts. One of two Russian Su-27 jets “collided with a U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Black Sea.” It happened on Tuesday, March 14, and was confirmed by a U.S. defense official. The way they describe what happened, the incident happened “in international airspace over international waters.”
That means there was no valid reason to take down our Reaper. They didn’t actually shoot it down, they body-slammed it. Allegedly on purpose. That came after an period where they chased it around the sky and harassed it, playing “cat and mouse” for a while.
According to the Pentagon, the “propeller to the drone was damaged” and it “landed in the Black Sea, west of Crimea.” You could call it a landing but most would call it a crash. On Wednesday, a general updated Reuters by relating things are pretty grim for our Reaper.

It “probably broke apart and would be difficult to recover given the depth of the water in the area.” That isn’t stopping the Russians from looking for it. They want to get their hands on it as bad as we do.
The Russian pilot barely felt the thump. “The Russian Su-27 was headed toward Crimea and landed there after this incident.” Fox notes, for the record, it “is unknown if there was any damage to the Su-27.” If so, it probably wasn’t much.
Russians blame it on the drone pilot working remotely and some “sharp maneuvering” the smaller craft made. It got itself smacked, they counter. Either way, it’s “worsening already tense relations between Washington and Moscow.”
Biden upset with litterbugs
Joe Biden can’t say a whole lot about the incident because explaining what our surveillance drone was spying on is a touchy subject for the Pentagon.
Our Reaper was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time and got jumped by playful Russians. They probably know what it is our craft was spying on, but aren’t saying. If it was in the Black Sea, it was probably something of theirs.
Joe couldn’t let it go without saying something but he should have kept quiet and stuck with another dish of ice cream. Free Beacon is reporting the “Biden administration took specific issue with the fact that Russia’s attack on a U.S. drone operating in international waters” was “environmentally unsound.”

The “Pentagon signaled it is particularly outraged over the Russian pilots’ decision to dump fuel on and around” our expensive spy craft.
The statement underscores that our Military is far too woke to actually win a war. China’s new Foreign Minister Qin “Wolf Warrior” Gang is reading the U.S. press release and howling with laughter.
The Pentagon’s focus, Free Beacon writes, “on the environmental impact of a military skirmish with Russia, the first since Moscow launched its unprovoked war in Ukraine last year, highlights the American military’s growing focus on green priorities under the Biden administration. ‘Tackling the climate crisis,’ as the Defense Department puts it, is one of America’s top national security issues.” America’s top generals are mad. Not because they smacked down our drone but because they did it in a manner unfriendly to the climate. Taiwan is doomed.
