One of the more popular figures in action sports has been killed.
Ken Block, the founder of DC Shoes, died in a snowmobile accident.
He was only 55 years old.
Action Junkie
Block got started early in action sports, designing DC Shoes for sports like snowboarding and skateboarding.
He eventually sold the company and went from business executive to motocross sports.
Block quickly made a name for himself in rally.
He would wind up medaling five times in the X-games in RallyCross.
The only solace in his death, if there is any, is that he died doing what he loved doing the most… action sports.
He had been going down a steep hill when he apparently lost control of the snowmobile.
The Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office stated, “We are saddened to hear of the loss of Kenneth and our hearts are with his family and friends so deeply affected.
“We thank all of our first responders for their continued service.”
His team added, “Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon.
“And most importantly, a father and a husband.
“He will be incredibly missed. Please respect the family’s privacy at this time while they grieve.”
