First the Democrats cried out to “Defund The Police!”, then they attack their qualified immunity in Congress and now they are begging everyday American citizens to stop criminals. Reports are now coming in from The Daily Wire and The New York Post about how the so-called “first lady of NYC” Chirlane McCray “wants citizens to personally “physically intervene” to stop violent crimes, nine months after she convinced her husband to get aboard the “defund the police” movement by redirecting money from police to “youth initiatives and social services.”
Fear is a normal feeling when stepping into a confrontation, but being prepared can help. I’ll share @iHollaback's 5 D’s, which are easy to remember tactics that we can all use to de-escalate a situation.
D is for Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, and Direct.

There is a certain poetic justice to it, even though deeper down the feed McCray gives some instructions that could be considered positively suicidal. This is even more dangerous than sending out unarmed social workers into the field. Check out the “instructions” she gives to the public on how to “intervene” in active crimes-in-progress.
This is begging to get somebody killed.
Here are the Five “D’s” that NYC’s “first lady” refers to:
- “Distract. Take attention away from the person causing harm, the hate crime or incident survivor, or situation itself. Just try interrupting it. Ignore the harasser and engage directly with the person who is being targeted by asking a question like, “What time is it?”
- Delegate: Scan a situation to assess risk and determine how to best intervene, and delegate tasks. Take a look at your surroundings. If you can, find someone in a position of authority, tell them about the situation and ask if they can help.
- Document: Support a person in crisis by recording on your phone or writing notes, but please don’t share a video without the consent of the person being harmed. Say the date and time, and show the location if you can. Most importantly, keep a safe distance!
- Delay: Check in with the survivor after the incident. This shows them that they are valued. This is a great way to support your neighbor if you aren’t feeling confident in the moment. Ask how they’re doing, if they need support or if you can help them file a report.
- Direct: Respond directly to the aggressor or physically intervene and only after assessing the situation. Be confident, assertive, calm. This is risky, but sometimes all we can do is speak up. If the harasser responds, try your best to focus on assisting the person targeted.”
Who Is Chirlane McCray?
McCray was handed her first steps into political acclaim by Mayor Di Blasio back in June when he credited her with his executive decision to jump on the “defund the police” bandwagon.
The New York Post wrote,
“During a City Hall briefing at which he was joined by First Lady Chirlane McCray and several Black Lives Matter activists — but no one from the NYPD — de Blasio didn’t hesitate when The Post asked if his wife was behind his surprise flip-flop on the controversial budget matter.
“The answer’s yes,” de Blasio said.
Hizzoner then handed off the question to McCray, who said, “There’s no question that it was important to move more funds to youth and social services.”
McCray said the mayoral coronavirus-recovery Task Force on Racial Inclusion and Equity, which her husband appointed her to co-chair with Deputy Mayor J. Phillip Thompson, conducted a survey that showed “more resources for our young people was right up there” with the most-requested assistance.”
Daily Wire reported “McCray, a major figure in city government in her own right, has frequently decried anti-black racism and has a fractured relationship with the city’s police. In April de Blasio named his wife, who is black, as co-chair of the city’s Task Force on Racial Inclusion and Equity.”
The Massive Blowback, And More to Come
Shootings and murders have skyrocketed in New York City in 2020 according to the NYPD. “The number of shootings soared 97% from 777 in 2019 to 1,531 in 2020 and murders jumped by 44% from 319 to 462. ” The worst part: NYPD reports that they only made arrests in about a third of the cases or 32%! Burglaries also shot up 42% and car thefts leapt by 67%.
This is in New York City, where a Concealed Carry Permit is nearly impossible for the average citizen to acquire. That the same politicians who gutted the police and created this crisis have the gall to ask citizens to stride boldly and UNARMED into the firing line is terrifying. And this is the future that the Democratic-Socialists envision for all Americans should HR127, and the “George Floyd Justice in Policing Act” be enacted. After all this, not only New Yorkers but all Americans will be begging… for our lives as Antifa/BLM thugs continue to break the law with impunity.
