You know all that footage from January 6 that Tucker Carlson was supposed to get?
Well, the brakes have been pumped on that just a bit.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is calling for the footage to be reviewed before allowing Carlson to see it.
A Bit Misleading
From what I read early on, McCarthy was going to turnover more than 40,000 hours of footage to Carlson.
Democrats immediately lost it, believing that McCarthy would be turning over classified information, such as Capitol escape routes.
So, to chill everyone out, McCarthy is having all the footage reviewed, and any classified footage will be removed.
Additionally, Carlson will not get the actual footage, only able to view it in a supervised environment.
When he sees something that he wants to use, he can request a copy, then put together his own tape.
McCarthy stated, “It’s many more hours of tape than we were ever told.
“They said at the beginning it was like, 14,000 hours.
“There’s roughly almost 42,000 hours. We’re working through that.
“We work with the Capitol Police as well, so we’ll make sure security is taken care of.”
Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), chairman of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, added, “There hasn’t been a release of tapes.
“It’s basically controlled access to be able to view tapes.
“Can’t record, can’t take anything with you.
“Then they will request any particular clips that — that they may need, and then we’ll make sure that there’s nothing sensitive, nothing classified — you know, escape routes.”
Not what we had hoped for, but we still cannot wait to see what Carlson manages to put together for this.
