Election night was very revealing.
This was a personal rebuke of Donald Trump while at the same time showing a lot of progress for the GOP.
This gives us a much better idea of how the 2024 election would stand up.
Records Rule
The one utterly baffling thing was the success of Democrat incumbents when so many people stated they thought the country was headed in the wrong direction.
We also found out how voters feel about Donald Trump in key states.
Trump overall had a big day, but most of his endorsements were in races that were more or less a lock for the GOP.
In the races that were up for grabs, Trump got murdered.
Darren Bailey (IL), Dan Cox (MD), Geoff Diehl (MA), Tudor Dixon (MI), Lee Zeldin (NY), Doug Mastriano (PA), and Tim Michels (WI) all lost their respective gubernatorial races.
JD Vance won his race, but he owes that win to McConnell, not Trump.
Trump’s Save America PAC did not support GOP candidates even though it had more than $250 million in it at one point.
McConnell sent more than $30 million to Vance while Trump kept his money on the sidelines.
That hurt other races, however.
For instance, would Oz have beaten Fetterman? Could Walker have pulled away from Warnock? And how about Blake Masters?
The good news from this election is that the GOP made massive inroads.
Even though Lee Zeldin lost, he made a race of it, and we picked up seats that we never expected to win.
At worst, it looks like we will have a 50-50 Senate.
If Masters and/or Walker can win their race, we have the Senate majority.
The House, however, looks like it will definitely go to the GOP, just not by the margin we thought we were going to have.
We also had some good candidates that lost tough races that could very much be winnable in 2024.
Realistically, Democrats had a much better election than we did, but conservatives are going to come out of this with control and a lot to build on.
Most importantly, we can now block Biden and his radical agenda.
