Donald Trump just got some wonderful news. The leading union for workers in the fossil fuel industry have just provided their endorsement to former President Donald Trump for the upcoming 2024 presidential election. Compromised of 50,000 members that work in drilling, the Oil and Gas Workers Association announced their support for Trump in the GOP primary and general election against current President Joe Biden.

While this move has been met with criticism from Democrats, many Republicans believe it will be a huge advantage for Trump as he continues his campaign.

Matt Coday, president of the Oil & Gas Workers Association, praised President Trump’s record on energy policy during his tenure as president.

He stated that under Trump’s leadership “our country became energy dominant” and “the booming economy of the Trump years benefitted every American.”

Coday contrasted this with Ron DeSantis’ lack of a track record on energy policy and noted that Joe Biden has “obviously actions [that] are to kill our oil and gas jobs.”

This announcement comes after Governor DeSantis released an energy plan for his presidential campaign earlier this week.

When asked about this plan, President Trump responded with some harsh words, claiming that DeSantis wanted to end incentives for the oil and gas industry when he was in Congress; a reaction which is likely due to being snubbed by OGWA despite having just announced his own energy policy.

As expected, Democrats have blasted OGWA’s decision but they are noticeably concerned that Republican frontrunner Donald Trump has outmaneuvered President Joe Biden on this issue as well.

President Trump is attempting to further increase his support among unions by traveling next week to Michigan to meet with United Auto Workers (UAW).

This comes shortly after UAW announced their first strike in 100 years against three major auto companies.

Although union bosses have criticized him as anti-worker, Democrats are notably concerned that he may outmaneuver Joe Biden in gaining support from unions before November’s election.
