Rep. Cindy Axne (D-IA) is now facing a major ethics violation.

She gave a false statement to the Clerk of the House.

She even admitted to it.

Now the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) is going to try to hold her accountable.

We Got Her

There is no muddy ground here.

Axne used the proxy vote, signing a form that stated she was using her proxy due to the “ongoing public health emergency.”

In reality, she had gone on a family vacation and wanted to make sure Democrats had enough votes to pass the Inflation Reduction Act.

Not only did Axne admit that she was on vacation, she even posted pictures on her social media enjoying France with the family while using her proxy vote.

This is a rule that is in place because House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) wants to make sure every Democrat vote counts.

It has nothing at all to do with the pandemic at this point.

FACT’s Executive Director, Kendra Arnold, stated, “This is a clear case where Rep. Axne blatantly made a false statement to the House Clerk, and by extension to the American people.

“There is no ambiguity here—she admitted it on television after she was caught.

“Obviously, this willful abuse of the proxy system is very troubling and yet another example of politicians not even being able to follow the simple rules they themselves put forth.”

Almost 190 members of Congress used a proxy vote that day.

Ideally, every absence would be investigated, and I don’t care if they are left or right, if they violated the spirit of the order, hold them accountable.

I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of members of Congress laughing in our faces and doing as they please.
