Late last year, there were plenty of rumors that Communications Director Kate Bedingfield was going to walk.

When the rumors hit, Bedingfield immediately came out to deny them and stayed on.

Well, it turns out the rumors were true, just a bit premature.

See Ya, Kate

This weekend, the White House confirmed that Bedingfield was, in fact, moving on.

Biden stated, “Since my time as Vice President, Kate has been a loyal and trusted adviser, through thick and thin.

“She was a critical strategic voice from the very first day of my presidential campaign in 2019 and has been a key part of advancing my agenda in the White House.

“The country is better off as a result of her hard work and I’m so grateful to her – and to her husband and two young children – for giving so much.

“Ben has big shoes to fill. I look forward to welcoming him back as a first-rate communicator who’s shown his commitment to public service again and again, and who has a cutting-edge understanding of how Americans consume information.”

Ben, as Biden referred to her replacement, is Ben LaBolt, another Obama holdover.

More importantly for Biden, LaBolt checks another box, as he will be the first openly gay White House Communications Director.

This was something that White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre called “very important” because apparently “gay” is a key qualification for the position.

I honestly do not know much about LaBolt, but when the man’s sexual orientation is touted more than his qualifications, well, it seems pretty clear why he got the job.
