This week, Republicans asked the Congressional Budget Office to come in for a chat.
House Republicans wanted an update on the deficit to learn exactly what they are working with right now.
Well, the news was not good.
In fact, they were told the situation is “dire.”
Dire Situation
CBO Director Phillip Swagel told Republicans, “We cannot grow ourselves out of this,” which is what Biden is trying to do.
RSC Chair Kevin Hern (R-OK) stated that it was a “dark picture” that Swagel painted.
He added, “But this wasn’t news to anyone who’s paid attention to our spending problem.
“The CBO is a nonpartisan entity, and they recognize the severity of our current situation.”
Hern continued, “We need everyone, not just fiscal conservatives, to pay attention to the debt crisis and come to terms with reality.
“There are some really hard conversations that need to be had, both internally in the GOP and with our colleagues across the aisle.”
Rep. Ben Cline (R-VA) stated, “These kinds of briefings are incredibly important to fully understand the seriousness of our nation’s fiscal trajectory.
“It is totally irresponsible for President Biden and the Democrats to refuse to negotiate any limitations on federal spending.
“We need to come together, tighten the purse strings, and balance the budget – just like families across America have to do every day.”
The answer is to dial back spending, something that Joe Biden refuses to do.
Since Biden refuses to negotiate with House members on this issue, it is something that is going to come right down to wire.
