An 18 year old Romanian teenager, Aleexandra Khefren, has made headlines for selling her virginity to the highest bidder.
Despite the threats from her family of disownment should she go through with this decision, Khefren decided to follow up on this gambit and sell her virginity for two million pounds.
This is a controversial topic that has sparked debate among many people around the world about whether or not it is right or wrong to sell one’s virginity.
Khefren’s agent was Cinderella Escorts, a website based in Germany that took 20% of the money spent by the Hong Kong businessman who bought Khefren’s virginity.
She stated that she thought selling her virginity would be better than giving it away to someone who may leave her anyways in the future.
Other women from all over the world have contacted Cinderella Escorts since then offering their own virginities for sale as well.
This case has also raised questions regarding what message this sends out about femininity and if other young women are able to get ahead in life by selling their most valuable asset.
When news broke about Khefren’s decision, many individuals had differing opinions on whether or not they thought this was moral and acceptable behavior.
On Facebook, some commenters questioned both Khefren’s moral character and intelligence while others defended her decisions stating that everyone should have control over their bodies no matter how young they are.
Twitter user commented saying they felt bad for such a naïve young girl but also wished there was someone there who could talk sense into her before making such a drastic decision like this one involving an irreversible action with long lasting implications.
The issue at hand here is complicated because there are moral implications involved when it comes to selling one’s body parts even if said individual consents willingly without being forced or manipulated into doing so against their will power.
Although Aleexandra Khefren may have chosen to sell her virginity out of desperation due financial struggles or any other plausible reason, however you look at it, this act still raises more questions than answers.
Is there really ever a good enough justification for trading off your body parts regardless of age?
Can these morally questionable acts ever truly come without consequences?
