Joe Biden is pulling out the big guns to try to help Democrats in mid-term elections.
Biden just issued a mass pardon for all simple marijuana possession prisoners.
This move will likely release thousands from prison.
Buying Votes
This was something that was clearly being saved to have an impact on elections.
Biden has been slipping among minority demographics, and he is hoping this will get him back those votes.
To that point, the White House stated, “black and brown people have been arrested, prosecuted, and convicted at disproportionate rates.”
Biden added, “As I’ve said before, no one should be in jail just for using or possessing marijuana.
“Sending people to jail for possessing marijuana has upended too many lives — for conduct that is legal in many states.
“That’s before you address the clear racial disparities around prosecution and conviction.
“Today, we begin to right these wrongs.”
He is also pushing to have it legalized federally, stating, “The federal government currently classifies marijuana as a ‘schedule one’ substance, the same as heroin and LSD – and more serious than fentanyl.
“It makes no sense.”
We will have to wait until the next round of polling to see just how effective it was.
