Last week, the entire nation was horrified to learn of the attack against four Americans.
They were ambushed as they came over the Mexican border.
Two of them appeared to have been killed during the attack, with their limp bodies tossed into the back of a truck.
The other two were taken and held hostage until they were rescued.
Not only did the cartel fess up to the crime, they turned over the individuals they claim were responsible for the kidnapping.
Sorry
The move is actually not surprising and not unprecedented by the cartel.
After the attack was publicized, the GOP went on the attack, pushing the idea of creating legislation that would allow our special forces to go into Mexico and literally end the cartel.
So, the cartel allegedly served up the individuals that took the Americans, claiming they were a rogue element acting on their own.
They were dropped off in a vehicle with a letter.
In part, the letter stated, “We have decided to turn over those who were directly involved and responsible in the events, who at all times acted under their own decision-making and lack of discipline.”
The letter added that they were being turned over for not “respecting the life and well-being of the innocent.”
They are clearly hoping to get American lawmakers to ease up on wanting to go after them, but I don’t see that happening.
Now, unless I am mistaken, such a move would also require the cooperation of Mexican officials, which I would be shocked for them to get.
I just don’t see Mexico taking too kindly to American military forces running around in their backyard.
