Democrats are the party of overreaction.
They did it again after the Supreme Court announced its presidential immunity ruling.
Sadly, sensationalism also found its way to the court with our liberal justices.
Going Too Far
The reaction to the ruling was ridiculous, and that is being nice.
What really bothered me, though, was that the overreaction found its way to the court.
For instance, in her dissent, Justice Sotomayor stated, “When he uses his official powers in any way, under the majority’s reasoning, he now will be insulated from criminal prosecution.
“Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival? Immune.
“Organizes a military coup to hold onto power? Immune. Takes a bribe in exchange for a pardon? Immune. Immune, immune, immune.
“Let the President violate the law, let him exploit the trappings of his office for personal gain, let him use his official power for evil ends.”
The notion that a president could order a hit on a political opponent using United States military assets is absurd.
In reality, the decision by the court only reaffirmed previous rulings by the court on this matter.
The ruling is clear… only official acts as a president are immune, not acts that would be deemed to have been done as a private citizen.
So, no president can randomly kill people, take a bribe, or any other crime while in office and be immune from prosecution.
But this is what Democrats do… fearmonger, and now that has found its way onto the court. And it is disgraceful.
