GOP Representative Steve Scalise wants answers from the Biden administration and Democrats in Congress as to why they are focusing on policies that would harm America rather than bringing Americans home who are trapped in Afghanistan.
Thanks to Joe Biden‘s failed attempt to withdraw troops from Afghanistan, thousands of Americans and allies are trapped behind enemy lines in the now Taliban-led country. Biden and military leaders refuse to take responsibility for that failure, and are instead trying to sweep the issue under the rug.
Rather than focusing on bringing Americans home, radical leftist Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has called the House of Representatives back from recess to vote on her multi-trillion dollar tax-and-spend legislation.
House Minority Whip Steve Scalise is calling Pelosi and the Biden administration out for their actions. Standing side by side with Republican members of Congress, many of whom served in Afghanistan, he told reporters that the House should be focusing on GOP bills to bring Americans home safely.
“It’s really disgraceful that Speaker Pelosi this week brought us back to raise taxes on Americans here at home rather than to help come up with a strategy to rescue Americans that President Biden abandoned in Afghanistan,” Scalise said during a press event.
“That’s what we should be doing here,” he continued. “In fact, some of my colleagues have legislation to help aid and expedite the ability to get Americans back. We’ve been asking President Biden how many Americans were abandoned behind enemy lines? They won’t even give us that basic answer.”
“But what we know right now is we want our focus, and we want President Biden’s focus, on rescuing every American who he left behind enemy lines and to give us an accounting of who they are,” Scalise added. “We are going to continue to press for legislation on the House floor to confront that this week while Speaker Pelosi is more focused on trying to raise taxes and spend trillions of dollars, rather than work with us to answer these questions.”
