Sentenced to Prison for China ‘Birth Tourism’

Birth Tourism was a big industry while Barack Obama was in charge. Especially for the Chinese. Michael Wei Yueh Liu, a resident of Rancho Cucamonga, California, was recently sentenced to three years in prison for his role in an extensive “birthing scheme.” Prosecutors were hoping for five years but that’s okay. Incoming President Donald Trump is working on removing the demand for such services entirely, by doing away with “birthright” citizenship.

Sentenced for birth scheme

Michael Wei Yueh Liu was living a luxury lifestyle in Rancho Cucamonga, on millions he made through a “birth tourism” scheme. He’ll be moving to a less exclusive neighborhood for the next 41 months.

The 59-year-old “was sentenced to three years and five months in prison after a four-day trial.

Along with his co-conspirator, 47-year-old Jing Dong, Liu encouraged “more than 100 parents to travel to the U.S. from China to give birth so that their children would have U.S. citizenship.

The feds charged Liu with “one count of conspiracy and 10 counts of international money laundering.

From January 2012 through May 2015, back when Barack Obama was fouling the White House, “Liu and Dong ran a maternity home in Rancho Cucamonga.” The pair thoughtfully “provided short-term housing and services to pregnant women.

The whole point of birth tourism is to give the babies automatic U.S. citizenship. The price for their services generally varied between $20,000 and $40,000 but they weren’t shy about shaking down communist party bigwigs for big bucks. They sometimes “charged ‘VIP‘ customers $100,000.

USA Happy Baby

Calling the program USA Happy Baby, “Liu and Dong helped customers obtain visas to enter the U.S., get customs entry transportation and apply for legal documents for their children.

Usually, “about a month or two after giving birth, the women returned to China.” The pair weren’t real careful about covering their tracks, providing instructions on how to beat the immigration laws as part of their sales brochure.

According to the DOJ, the defendants “instructed their customers on how to hide their pregnancies from immigration authorities and knew or deliberately avoided learning that their customers lied on their U.S. visa applications.

The normal procedure was for customers to lie on their visa applications, claiming “that they were visiting the U.S. for several days or weeks for tourism, when in reality they were traveling to the country for months to give birth.” They pulled in an alleged $3.8 million.

They also were advised to lie about where they would be staying. List anywhere but USA Happy Baby’s maternity hotel, they were told. The conspirators leased a “number of apartments used throughout the scheme.” At one point, they had 30 apartments at their disposal.

Clients were told to fly in “to ports of entry where they believed there was less scrutiny at customs, like Hawaii.” Along with listing benefits of giving birth in America like “better air,” and “a more stable political environment,” the brochure gave helpful tips. Wear “loose fitting clothing” and choose “lines at customs that they believed were less strict.” It also coached them on “how to answer questions from customs officials.
