Ron DeSantis Tragedy… He’s DEAD

This weekend, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had been scheduled to appear with New York gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin.

Zeldin is fighting to get the GOP back in charge of New York.

DeSantis was the headliner of a $25,000/plate event, but he canceled at the last minute, citing an “unforeseen tragedy” as the reason.

The Tragedy

Zeldin broke the news to supporters just before the event.

This campaign stated, “An unforeseen tragedy forced Gov. DeSantis to reschedule his trip to New York.

“While we’re rescheduling with Gov. DeSantis for a later date, tonight’s fundraiser will proceed and is expected to raise almost a million dollars.”

Conservative pundit Dan Bongino was tapped to fill in for DeSantis.

Mrs. DeSantis later filled everyone in via Twitter why they had to cancel.

She posted, “Today we mourn the tragic loss of FDLE Special Agent Jose Perez, who died in the line of duty.

“With over 20 years in the U.S. armed forces & more than 30 years in law enforcement, he lived a valiant life serving our nation & state.

“The entire @fdlepio community is in our prayers.”

Florida Department of Law Enforcement Special Agent Jose Perez had been a member of the governor’s detail.

While in an unmarked cruiser, he was struck by Javier Sandoval on August 2, succumbing to his injuries on August 20.

A memorial service had been scheduled for Perez that conflicted with the Zeldin event, so DeSantis did the right thing by showing his respects for the man that often put his own life on the line for the governor.

Rest in peace Agent Perez, and thank you for your service.
