Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was called out on social media after trying to rewrite history on Thursday when she told Semafor’s Kadia Goba that the Democrat Party held “an open primary” and that Vice President Kamala Harris “won it.”
The 84-year-old former Speaker of the House either completely forgot about the Democrats’ shenanigans, or was deliberately gaslighting the American people and trying to rewrite history. President Joe Biden won the Democrat primary earlier this year after the party pushed out or refused to acknowledge any of his challengers — including Democrat-turned-independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who dropped out of the Democrat primary and launched an independent campaign before ultimately dropping out and endorsing former President Donald Trump last month.
Biden eventually dropped out of the race — curiously waiting until there was no chance of the Democrats being able to hold a legitimate primary contest to replace him. His decision came after an abysmal debate performance, though he waited a few weeks until a mysterious document was shared on his X account confirming that he dropped out, which came soon after Trump was nearly assassinated. He then endorsed Harris as his replacement, and the entire party rallied around the deeply unpopular vice president, refusing to even hold a primary contest or consider any other candidates.
Despite these facts, Pelosi told Goba that Harris’ installment as the Democrat presidential nominee was done through legitimate democratic means.
When asked by the radical leftist journalist about her thoughts on an open primary, Pelosi claimed: “We had an open primary and [Harris] won it because nobody else got in the race because she’s politically astute.”
She added that “it was a thought” for the Democrats to “show our talent, we have a great bench” — but claimed it was not necessary to highlight “all these great people” because Biden just “endorsed her.”
Pelosi went on to praise Biden as “the most consequential president of modern times,” despite the fact that she worked behind the scenes to force him to drop out of the race.
“He’s accomplished so much more,” she added. “I mean, even Barack Obama in his eight years of service would admit that in the short period that Biden had the majority – which was two years of his four-year term.”
She also completely glossed over the fact that she took part in the coup against Biden, claiming that he was “highly respected and was to be our nominee” but suddenly decided to drop out of the race.
“And so, yes, people could have jumped in,” Pelosi added. “There were some people who were sort of preparing, but she just took off with it. And actually, it was a blessing, because there wasn’t that much time between then and the election. And it wasn’t that we didn’t have an open primary. It’s just that nobody got in because she had a running start.”
Social media users were quick to call out Pelosi for trying to rewrite history, with the official Trump War Room account on X calling her “Crazy Nancy” and sarcastically commenting: “Yes, it totally was an open primary and definitely not a coup.”

During an argument with a leftist on X about Pelosi’s attempt to rewrite history, “All That Remains” lead singer Phil Labonte pointed out the facts: “you’re being dishonest by intentionally conflating two different things. Pelosi is lying by saying she won an open primary, she had no competitors because there was no open primary. asserting that a vote for Biden is a vote for Harris does not make it so. Harris did not campaign against a democrat and when she does she loses. the democrats may have fallen in line but that is because of how incredibly poor Biden performed in the debate. if she had to run against other democrats i believe strongly she would lose.”
